Scriptural Truths Portrayed in Messiah's Windows

Jesus Christ is True God and True Man

We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.

We believe that the glorious birth of Christ was foretold in the Old Testament and hundreds of years before he was born.

"Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; behold a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." Isaiah 7:14

Sacrament of the Altar

We believe that the Sacrament of the Altar is one of two sacraments instituted by Christ for us. In it, Christ gives us his true body and blood with the bread and the wine for the forgiveness of our sins.

Matthew, Mark, Luke, and St. Paul write: Our Lord Jesus Christ, on the night when he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to the disciples and said: "Take and eat; this is my body."  Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins."

Death and Resurrection

We believe that Jesus Christ was crucified, died, and was buried. Three days later he rose again from the dead. Through this death and resurrection sin and death are conquered for us. By grace, through faith, we are forever made new through the power of Christ's love, and because of him all who believe are granted eternal life in heaven.

Isaiah 53:4-5: "Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed."

1 Peter 2:24: "He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed."

Romans 5:10: "If, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!"
